Location: San Antonio TX, Or San Jose CA

Work Mode : Hybrid (
2-3 days/week onsite)

Client: CGI

Main skills: SQL DBA, AWS, Terraform, Production Support

(Please note that they do not need Azure, they need AWS)

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in AWS, Production Support, SQL Server, and Terraform to join our growing team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining the reliability,
performance, and security of our database infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations for our critical systems.

Responsibilities:

Manage and maintain SQL Server databases, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security.

Implement database changes, patches, and upgrades in accordance with best practices.

Perform regular database backups, restoration, and recovery procedures.

Leverage AWS services for database deployment, optimization, and scalability.

Design and implement AWS solutions for high availability and disaster recovery.

Collaborate with cloud architects to enhance the overall cloud infrastructure.

Provide proactive and reactive support for production databases, ensuring minimal downtime and quick issue resolution.

Participate in on-call rotations to address critical incidents and maintain 24/7 availability.

Identify and address performance bottlenecks in collaboration with developers and system administrators.

Optimize SQL queries and database configurations to improve overall system efficiency.

Utilize Terraform to automate the provisioning and management of database infrastructure.

Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices to ensure consistency and repeatability.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Proven experience as a SQL DBA with a focus on AWS and Production Support.

Strong proficiency in SQL Server database administration and performance tuning.

Experience with Terraform for infrastructure automation.

Solid understanding of cloud computing concepts and hands-on experience with AWS services.

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and contribute to a positive team culture.

Preferred Skills:

AWS Certification (e.g., AWS Certified Database - Specialty).

Familiarity with other database systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).

Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.

Scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation.
