It is located in San Jose CA (Onsite) Title: Unix Admin/System Admin Location: San Jose CA (Onsite) Term: Contract Job Description: Should Have: Candidate needs to have IBM experience -extremely well with AIX, SUSE Team is heading to SUSE-Veritas or HACMP are nice to have On call rotation- one week in five to six weeks- 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM PT Tech documentation skills should be good E-mail/phone call skills should be good RHEL experience will be preferable What youll do System Administration This person would be responsible for the day-to-day administration of all Linux based servers. This includes monitoring the trouble ticket queue, system troubleshooting, hardware and software system changes, scripting, patching, system performance monitoring, system sizing, system integration, upgrade implementation, and hardware diagnostics. Application support This person would work with application administrators to help troubleshoot and fine-tune applications and also if required guide application administrators in best practices related to using the underlying UNIX infrastructure. Documentation Maintain all system documentation. What you need to succeed Excellent hands on experience with RHEL/CentOS/SUSE including lvm device configuration and management, Kickstart/ Jumpstart, Yum/Satellite, networking etc. Good at scripting shell or Python for automation Proven ability to perform UNIX builds such as RHEL Working knowledge of VMWare vCenter, System imaging, TCP/IP functionality, networking, Remote administration systems (iLOM, ILO or iDRAC) a must HP & Dell rack-mount server hardware knowledge Must have strong communication skills and ability to work individually, within a team. Working knowledge of AIX, VxVM, Configuration management tool such as SaltStack would be a plus.
