Financial Analyst IV

This senior position is responsible for the development, monitoring and reporting of projections as well as the timely and accurate preparation and analysis of accounting entries for assigned divisions or companies. This position is also responsible for the preparation and analysis of all financial reports for management.

Description:

Develop SG&A budgets and quarterly forecasts for assigned divisions/companies including monitoring of reported results vs. projections and variation analysis.

Ensure the timely and accurate processing of monthly accounting entries for the financial close and the preparation of related general ledger account analyses (e.g., account reconciliations, investigation of unusual or one-time items); this involves interfacing with divisional personnel.

Perform variance analysis.

Lead financial reporting (e.g., board reports, divisional reports, scorecards and dashboards).

Prepare ad hoc analysis and benchmarking for assigned divisions or companies including analyzing raw financial data as well as compiling reports, graphs and presentations; reports often must be prepared with a high level of responsiveness to customer needs requiring the quick turnaround of available data into a useful story.

Support internal and external audits as needed.

Identify finance core processes for standardization / redesign and implement more streamlined procedures to enhance efficiency and controls.

Participate and lead various projects related to reducing administrative cost or similar financial analysis or ensure proper interfacing of premiums and claims to general ledger.

Provide guidance to less experienced financial analysts and quality review their work.

May provide consultation or support to assigned divisions or companies on financial statement matters.

Education/Experience:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting from an accredited college or university.

Requires a minimum of 7+ years of progressively responsible experience with general accounting, financial analysis, financial modeling, budgeting and related functions preferably in the health insurance industry.

Master's degree in business administration, accounting or finance a plus.

Knowledge:

Requires knowledge of accounting, finance and budget/cost.

Requires in-depth knowledge of general accounting principles and methods

Prefer knowledge of both Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Statutory Accounting principles (SAP).

Skills and Abilities:

Requires strong oral and written communication skills.

Requires demonstrated aptitude for analytical thinking including the ability to research and resolve problems, report findings accurately, identify solutions and implement resolutions through interaction with company wide personnel.

Requires very strong attention to detail and granular levels of financial reporting.

Requires the ability to plan, organize and prioritize work assignments.

Requires the ability to work independently and exercise sound business judgment.

Requires strong skills in MS Office applications (particularly Excel and Access).

Prefer knowledge of Adaptive Planning.

Prefer knowledge of the general ledger system, preferably Workday.

Prefer knowledge of financial auditing.
