Senior Agile Coach

Contract Duration: 12/29/2023 with extension (multi-year engagement)

Location: Remote (no CA, must be willing/able to work EST hours) with potential for travel as required

Top 3 Must Have Skills:

5+ years of guiding teams through successful Enterprise-level Agile transformation, ideally within the healthcare payer space
Familiarity with SAFe concepts
Agile Certification (such as CSM or similar)

The Senior Agile Coach will support a multi-year engagement in supporting an organization-wide transformation into a fully Agile environment. They will support the transformation of different areas of the organization to Agile framework as well as continued enterprise transformation as well as be responsible for the successful implementation and ongoing support of Agile within the organization.

What Youll Get to Do:

Be responsible for ensuring the successful implementation and ongoing support of Agile within organization and with clientele desiring to use Agile.
Perform coaching, training, and guidance to newly formed Agile project teams (and extended team stakeholders) who may have little to no Agile experience.
Coach the team, Scrum Master, Product Owner, and other related leaders on Agile principles (e.g., collaboration, transparency, inspection, and adaptation).
Utilize ideas out of project retrospectives to support process improvement initiatives.
Communicate to manager on status of projects and initiatives.
Defines near-term/long-term goals and drive approaches to ensure realization of business benefits associated with the transition to Agile; targets to include improvement in customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction, productivity, time to market and quality.
Lead the Enterprise Agile CoE through facilitating organizational learning, change management, and process adoption of Agile via metrics, benefits realization, outcomes, and retrospective findings.
Counsel and influence leaders and associates to embrace Agile principles, methods, and behaviors to gain and sustain commitment to cultural change and shift in mindset.
Define a common DevOps framework and supporting tools in partnership with business unit technology teams to enable the transition to a model of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) for fast and flexible software development both on-premises and in the cloud.
Influence a mindset and cultural shift to a new way of working to better meet the business expectations, achieve enterprise strategy, and most importantly better serve our member healthcare needs.
Oversee a senior level team of Agile SPC coaches assigned to different areas and platforms who will be facilitating the adoption of the SAFe framework and transforming the organization from waterfall/traditional way of working to being agile.
Implement strategic key performance measurements (OKRs and KPIs) to drive productivity improvements through continuous improvement initiatives.
Foster the enhancement of user experience (UX) design and leverage Design Thinking leading edge visual designs, building of customer personas, and developing customer journey maps upfront in the product lifecycle.
Guide and influence the team and organization by modelling Agile practices and methodologies through high-energy and passion.
Lead daily scrums, sprint reviews, and planning meetings in a way that ensures full team engagement; sets example that Scrum Masters should exhibit.

Coach and mentor, demonstrating servant leadership, with the goal to grow and maximize the teams potential.
Foster close cooperation across all team members, roles, and functions; encourages cross-training and supporting each other.
Facilitate communication and collaboration inside and outside the team; holds team members accountable to exhibit behavior consistent with team norms.
Inspire excitement within the team for the use of Agile.

Youll Bring these Qualifications:

Min 5+ years guiding teams through successful Enterprise-wide Agile training.
4+ years of experience in an Agile / Scrum / Kanban environment.
Prior Agile coaching experience (1 3 years) required including training Agile concepts and methods to project teams and stakeholders.
Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), certified Agile/Scrum coach or equivalent preferred.
Scrum Alliance recognition of certifications required (or equivalent Agile certifications from Agile organizations).
Willingness to travel up to 20-40% to support Agile transformation efforts.
Familiarity in SAFe concepts/metrics as well as experience leading teams and portfolios of work.
Knowledge of Insurance and Financial industry preferred.
Knowledge of agile transformation.
Proven experience managing effective governance in the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or similar frameworks. SAFE SPC Certified.
Demonstrative expertise on Agile values, principles, functions, and roles.
Minimum of 2 years of experience as either Scrum Master, Product Owner, or equivalent Agile functional role.
Must have knowledge of standard Agile functions and Ceremonies including but not limited to: Scrum Planning, Story Mapping, Release Planning, Sprint Planning, Daily Stand Up, Backlog Grooming, Sizing/Agile Estimating, Review/Demo, Retrospective.
Ideal candidate would have previous experience in traditional Project Management role, including PMP certification.
Knowledge and/or experience with Agile engineering practices (e.g., Behavioral driven development (BDD), Code refactoring, Pair programming etc.) preferred.
Knowledge and/or experience with Testing and Deployment automation (e.g., Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, Automated Testing) preferred.
