Demonstrated ability in developing complex, high-traffic Android OTT applications. Experience with and solid understanding of multithreaded programming and API layer programming and MVVM. Working knowledge of modern best practices: dependency injection, unit testing, and modular development. Experience working on a significant consumer app that is currently available in marketplace. Comfortable working with Git, Jenkins and Jira. Solid Coding practices including good design, unit testing, peer code reviews and a preference for agile methods. Solid understanding of HTTP, REST-style and GraphQL web services Expert in software engineering best practices Experience with agile software development practice, scrum, sprint planning, retrospectives, etc. Ability to collaborate in a small, productive development team as well as ability to work independently. Bonus Points: Working knowledge of building modular SDKs and Fire OS development is a plus. Experience using GraphQL is a plus. Experience building subscription models is a plus. Published 3 or more applications available on Google Play. Roles & Responsibilities Design, develop and test NBC News Digital flagship OTT applications including Android TV and Fire TV. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, scope, and ship new features. Collaborate with backend services teams to design and integrate APIs that drive our app. Aid UX in promoting best practices in Android design and user experience. Follow engineering best practices by ensuring unit-test coverage and working with QA on test automations. Maintain application including refactoring and ensuring reliability.
