Job Title: VMware Hypervisor Administrator
Location: Remote
 Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced VMware Hypervisor Administrator to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in managing and optimizing VMware virtualization technologies, particularly VMware ESXi and vSphere environments. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for deploying, configuring, and maintaining VMware hypervisor solutions to support the organization's IT infrastructure needs, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability of virtualized environments.Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and manage VMware ESXi hypervisors and vSphere infrastructure for enterprise-scale virtualized environments.
Ensure optimal performance, security, and scalability of VMware-based virtual machines (VMs) and clusters.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to virtualization, storage, networking, and performance within VMware environments.
Perform VMware upgrades and patches, ensuring compatibility and system reliability.
Manage VMware vCenter Server and related components for centralized management of virtualized environments.
Design, implement, and maintain high-availability (HA) solutions using VMware features like vMotion, DRS (Distributed Resource Scheduler), and HA Clusters.
Work with storage solutions (SAN, NAS) and VMware storage integration, ensuring proper storage performance and availability for virtual machines.
Perform regular backups of VMware environments and ensure disaster recovery procedures are in place and tested.
Develop and implement automation scripts using PowerCLI, vSphere CLI, or other scripting languages for repetitive tasks.
Monitor and report on the health, performance, and capacity of the virtualized infrastructure, identifying opportunities for optimization.
Collaborate with network, storage, and system administrators to ensure seamless integration between virtualization platforms and other IT systems.
Maintain documentation of VMware infrastructure configurations, architecture, and troubleshooting guides.
Provide support to other IT teams and end users, including managing service requests, incidents, and changes related to VMware environments.
Stay current with VMware technology trends and best practices to continuously improve infrastructure.Qualifications:
Experience:
3+ years of experience working with VMware technologies (ESXi, vSphere, vCenter, etc.).
Hands-on experience managing large VMware environments, including creating, configuring, and troubleshooting virtual machines and clusters.
Experience with VMware vCenter Server, vMotion, DRS, and HA.
Familiarity with VMware storage and network configurations in virtual environments.
Certifications:
VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) is highly preferred.
Additional certifications in VMware or virtualization technologies are a plus.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of virtualization concepts, including compute, storage, and networking in a VMware environment.
Experience with VMware management tools (vSphere Client, vCenter, vRealize Operations, etc.).
Proficient with scripting languages (PowerCLI, Bash, Python) to automate VMware tasks.
Familiarity with backup solutions and disaster recovery practices in VMware environments.
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., VMware Cloud, AWS, Azure) is a plus.
Soft Skills:
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
