Position: Data Project Manager Location: Austin, TX or Sunnyvale, CA Duration: Long Term Exp 8+ years and USC and H4EAD and GCEAD Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Data Project Manager to lead and manage end-to-end data-related projects for our client, , located onsite in Austin, TX or Sunnyvale, CA. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of data management, data engineering, and data visualization practices, combined with strong project delivery skills. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive projects involving data modeling, data pipelines, and the implementation of advanced analytics and business intelligence solutions. Key Responsibilities : Lead the entire lifecycle of data projects, including data acquisition, data modeling, and implementation of data solutions. Collaborate with data engineers, data analysts, and business stakeholders to define project requirements, ensuring alignment with business goals. Manage data engineering activities such as building, optimizing, and maintaining robust data pipelines and ETL processes. Oversee data modeling activities, ensuring accurate representation of business data through relational databases, data warehouses, and data lakes. Drive the implementation of data visualization solutions using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker to present actionable insights to stakeholders. Ensure compliance with data governance, data quality, and data security protocols across all projects. Create detailed project plans, including timelines, resource management, risk management, and budget tracking. Act as the key liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring transparent communication and managing expectations. Monitor and report project performance, tracking milestones, KPIs, and deliverables. Proactively identify potential risks and roadblocks, creating solutions to mitigate them and ensure smooth project delivery. Technical Skills : Strong experience in data engineering: working with ETL processes, data pipelines, and big data tools. Proficiency in data modeling techniques for both relational and non-relational databases. Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or equivalent to create dashboards and reports for stakeholders. Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Snowflake. Experience with SQL, Python, and other relevant programming languages for managing and manipulating large datasets. Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and data security best practices. Project Management Skills : Expertise in Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies to manage complex data projects. Proven track record of successfully delivering data projects on time and within budget. Experience managing cross-functional teams, including data engineers, analysts, and visualization experts. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate technical challenges. Excellent communication and client management skills, ensuring smooth interaction with all stakeholders. Preferred Skills : Familiarity with machine learning and advanced analytics use cases in data projects. PMP or Agile certification is highly desirable. Education : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
