Position: GKE Engineer Locations: Issaquah, WA Duration: Contract Job Description: GKE Cluster Management: Deploy and manage Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) clusters and related infrastructure. Ensure the health and performance of Kubernetes clusters, handling tasks such as scaling, upgrading, and patching. Implement and manage cluster autoscaling, cost optimization, and monitoring solutions. Container Orchestration: Design and implement containerized application solutions using Kubernetes. Define and manage Kubernetes resources such as Pods, Deployments, Services, ConfigMaps, and Secrets. Work with development teams to ensure smooth deployment pipelines and workflows for containerized applications. Cloud Infrastructure: Collaborate with cloud engineers to design and implement secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Optimize infrastructure for reliability, availability, and performance in a cloud-native environment. CI/CD Pipeline Integration: Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines for seamless application deployment to GKE. Integrate Kubernetes deployment strategies (e.g., rolling updates, canary releases) into continuous delivery workflows. Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Implement monitoring and alerting for GKE clusters using tools such as Prometheus, Stackdriver, or Grafana. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Kubernetes clusters, containers, and cloud infrastructure. Security: Implement security best practices for GKE environments, including role-based access control (RBAC), network policies, and service mesh architectures. Ensure compliance with security requirements and participate in vulnerability assessments and remediation efforts. Collaboration: Work closely with developers, system administrators, and DevOps teams to optimize deployment processes and ensure smooth operation of containerized applications. Provide technical support and guidance to team members regarding GKE and Kubernetes. Required Skills and Qualifications: Experience: 8+ years of hands-on experience working with Kubernetes and container orchestration systems. Strong experience with Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Experience deploying and managing applications in cloud environments using Kubernetes. Technical Expertise: Proficiency in containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. Familiarity with GKE services, including Autoscaler, Load Balancing, Networking, and IAM. Experience with cloud-native tools and services (e.g., Helm, Istio, Prometheus, Stackdriver). Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation). Programming & Scripting: Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Go, Bash, or similar. Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, or Cloud Build. Cloud & DevOps Skills: Strong understanding of DevOps principles, automation, and cloud-native architectures. Proficient in using GCP services like Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud Networking, and Identity & Access Management (IAM). Soft Skills: Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively. Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset. Preferred Qualifications: Certifications: Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect or Associate Cloud Engineer. Kubernetes Certification (CKA/CKAD) is a plus.
