Job Title: Platform Kubernetes Engineer with Openshift (THIS IS NOT A NO DEVOPS POSITION) Location: Richardson, TX - Hybrid (2 days from office) Duration: Long term contract NOTE: THIS IS NOT A DEVOPS POSITION. PLEASE DONT SHARE ME DEVOPS PROFILES Responsibility: VCP Web scale Contractor - This responsibility requires constant interaction with the platform lifecycle as it relates to certification and integration of Web scale. Weekly, He/she will provide summary of work completed, bring up issues that needs escalation. Daily,the engineer will develop resolution to complex problems in order to support multiple platforms that host Web scale. The solutions will be based on his/her strong understanding of the platform and making sure the interoperability is maintained.Troubleshooting will be led by this engineer and coordinate work with other organizations and vendors. Daily, the engineer will develop test cases in order to validate the solution developed and verified assumptions. If working on troubleshooting, he will be leading the calls to recreate the problem when needed, gather information for vendors to provide an RCA within 5 days if it is a complex problem or 2 days if is a medium complexity problem. 1 day for simple problems. Daily, If an issue is found, the engineer will be required to troubleshoot issues during testing phase when required. Responsible for transitioning troubleshooting notes, logs, and meeting records into procedures that can be presented to operations for implementation in production. These procedures must be highly organized, detailed, and well-written in order for operations to implement with 100% accuracy many times over Development and Automation In this role, He/she will create/develop test case automation and tools using Ansible and Python or any other Verizon approved language. He/she will provide input for new test cases for automation to the implementation and verification. The candidate will actively be workday to day to develop and improve hundreds of test cases and automated routines to improve time to market and reduce man hours required to support both Core and Edge Web scale. He/She will also partner with the development team to improve automated cases and implement new solutions. Knowledge Sharing and Ambassadorship Frequently develops material and presents information to an audience, both of peers and leaders within Verizon. Drawing on expertise, he develops material that is easily consumable, regardless of the audiences technical expertise. Work complexity and impact to business: Describe the types of complex analysis performed and the recommendations or proposals made by the employee in performing his/her job. Develop and automate relevant test cases that can be reused for future regression testing CI/CD Pipeline management and input using industry standard tools such as Gitlab and Artifactory During the testing of the platform, security scanning is crucial to a safe and secure network platform. During the security scanning of each iteration of the platform and updates, the engineer will use industry standard strategies to remediate security issues. Knowledge and skills: Describe the knowledge and skills required to perform the job. Description: Experience with Cloud Architecture with the focus on Openshift on bare metal. System Admin with Linux experience Telecom experience Experience with F5 Products AM and SPK Kubernetes services: Service Mesh (Istio), Service Proxy (F5 BigIP), Trident, Kubelet, Linux (Fedora based) Experience in Python and Ansible development languages. Docker Hub/Artifactory Managing data center elements, hardware, software, power requirements. Network automation and deployment methods. DNS Experience Advanced troubleshooting skills. TCP/IP, Routing and OSI 7-layer protocol. Git/Git flow. Strong analytic, interpersonal, and communication skills. Strong project management skills. Capability to work with minimum supervision.
