Position:             Database Engineer

Location:            Madison, Wisconsin (Local Only) (Hybrid)

Duration:           12+ Months

Team members for the Data Center Consolidation effort must have experience with at least the following:

1.           Automation of infrastructure delivery with configuration orchestration and management solutions (e.g. Ansible, Puppet, Terraform).

2.           Understanding of coding practices and developing in a preferred scripting language (e.g. PowerShell, Python, UNIX Shell Scripting).

3.           Relational database management systems with an emphasis on MS SQL Server, Oracle and PostgreSQL including database clustering and replication capabilities for disaster recovery.

4.            SQL and query optimization techniques with demonstrated ability to diagnose as well as prevent potential performance problems.

5.           Migrations to NoSQL solutions (e.g. MongoDB, DynamoDB) as well as in-memory databases at scale (e.g. Redis, Memcached, CouchDB).

6.           Performance monitoring, tuning and re-indexing activities to systematically improve database performance.

7.            Database design, data definition language management and data migration strategies for relational database engines.

Ideally, they will have experience with one or more of the following as well:

1.            DevOps principles and CI/CD solutions (e.g. GitLab, Jenkins).

2.            Software engineering with an emphasis on Java or Python software development.

3.           Implementation of service catalog automation for delivery of infrastructure services.

4.            Incident triage including scope determination, impact assessment and service restoration.

5.            Data resiliency activities focused on backup/recovery and data management tasks.

6.            Use of extraction, transformation and loading tools for data synchronization processes for analytical purposes to warehousing solutions as well as in a migration capacity to new database instances.
