MOI: Skype They want strong MySQL DBA Description The Database Administrator (DBA) is tasked with the design, installation, monitoring, maintenance, and optimization of production databases, particularly MySQL, MS Access, and MS Excel data environments. This role is crucial for ensuring high levels of data availability and system integrity. The DBA will also develop, implement, and manage database policies and procedures to secure and maintain the data and software associated with these databases. Responsibilities Strategy & Planning Evaluate and establish long-term strategic objectives for MySQL, MS Access, and MS Excel databases in collaboration with stakeholders and management. Develop database architectures and set coding standards in partnership with the development team, ensuring quality assurance. Design and enact systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to safeguard data integrity and availability. Acquisition & Deployment Research and advise on database products, services, and standards to support purchasing and development endeavors. Operational Management Model new database development or modifications to existing databases. Install and maintain necessary network components for database access, consistency, and integrity. Address and resolve database performance and access issues. Monitor and improve database operations and system performance. Administer physical data storage for all database systems. Oversee data migrations and ensure efficient data flow between systems. Maintain database change control and testing processes. Generate and support the creation of necessary reports as per business user requirements. Perform database transactions and security audits. Establish and maintain appropriate database access control levels for end-users. Encourage best practices for database use through routine guidance. Mentor and guide junior team members. Position Requirements Formal Education & Certification A degree in computer science or a related field, with a substantial amount of relevant work experience. Certifications in database management or specific to MySQL, MS Access, or related fields. Knowledge & Experience Solid knowledge of database structures, theories, principles, and practices, with a focus on MySQL, MS Access, MS Excel Proven experience with database design, construction, installation, configuration, and support. Expertise in database tuning and troubleshooting. Familiarity with data processing flowcharting techniques. Project management experience within a database context. Strong alignment with the organization's goals and understanding of data privacy laws. Personal Attributes Excellent communication and technical documentation skills. Strong interpersonal abilities and the skill to research database issues as needed. Capable of conveying complex information in an understandable manner.
