Whats the major objective(s) of the role Specifically, what does this person need to do to be considered a success What will they be working on We are looking to staff senior Data/ETL developers to help us build a cloud native ETL pipeline that will be leveraged by the applications that our customers use to manage benefits and products. This position will start off as primarily developing with expectations that 80-90% of the time will be spent developing and designing solutions written using the CloverDX ETL tool. As the project matures the expectation is that this developer will mentor and help upskill existing Sun Life employees to move from primarily legacy ETL tooling to Clover running in a cloud environment. 2. What are the MUST HAVE technologies for this position (Please list must have technologies / technical skills and what the candidate needs to do in order to be considered great at them) SQL (intermediate or better must be able to read/write complex queries and optimize performance) Visual ETL development (such as CloverDX, Informatica, SSIS, or similar); experience building and optimizing performant large-scale ETL loads Basic understanding of modern web application design (APIs, etc); our team doesnt build web apps but we do support them Basic understanding of data warehouse design and best practices 3. What are the MUST HAVE Critical Skills for this position (For critical skills, please also describe what the person needs to do with them in order to be considered very good at it.) Can clearly explain to both technical and business users what their ETL is doing and why Able to understand and analyze business requirements for data integration Can work in an iterative/agile environment, both with teammates and independently 4. Responsibilities & Duties: A candidate joining our team will be expected to write clean and efficient code for our solutions. All commits into our code base should include functioning code and unit tests. Candidates must be able to work autonomously. Asking questions when ambiguous situations arise - self starting and innovative in their work. We value each developers contributions and expect our team members to be engaged and challenge ideas when appropriate. Candidates must also be comfortable in presenting solutions to a wider team and mentoring junior developers as well as senior developers learning new skills.
