Role : Innovations Engineer Location : CA Role Description: Innovations seeks a motivated Innovations Engineer to lead the on-site activities at our Innovation Lab in Foster City, California. This role involves defining, testing, validating, and implementing prototypes. As part of a diverse and dynamic Innovation team, the candidate will be pivotal in solving customer problems using cutting-edge solutions. Responsibilities include overseeing the entire prototyping process and project implementation. The role requires collaboration with various teams vendors, IT, Security, DevOps, architects, Cloud teams, business partners, legal, procurement, operations, facilities, and other teams to turn innovative ideas into tangible prototypes. A typical day might involve developing concepts and prototypes with new vendors, collaborating with IT partners, engaging in lab work, promoting a culture of innovation, and interfacing with different business divisions to understand and address their challenges. Skill Set: Proficiency in GenAI, specifically in designing, developing, and implementing generative AI models and algorithms. Hands-on experience with Cloud technologies (AWS and/or Azure). Proficiency in Python, web application development, and RESTful API integration. Knowledge of React and JavaScript. Strong debugging and optimization skills. Understanding of existing Large Language Models (LLMs) and their practical applications in Generative AI. Business acumen to comprehend market and organizational dynamics. Key Job Responsibilities: Collaborate closely with the Innovation team to drive and implement defined requirements. Innovate and automate processes considering labor, cost, safety, and performance. Develop business and use cases to support innovation initiatives. Define pilot criteria and success metrics for proof-of-concept validation. Collaborate with internal teams on technical documentation, such as flow diagrams, equipment layouts, and schedules. Participate in a lessons-learned program to refine future innovation and automation designs. Detail integration plans with design and controls teams. Represent Gilead Innovations in cross-functional teams, integrating future technologies into the enterprise ecosystem. Foster a continuous improvement culture within the technology sphere. Provide leadership and guidance to your team, ensuring timely and effective product delivery. Maintain detailed and timely communication with management. Educational Requirements: Bachelors degree in engineering or a related field. 5+ years of engineering experience Experience in the following areas: Web application development - Javascript / Typescript, Python or NodeJS, REST Web Services, DNS, etc. AWS development skills, including serverless technology (Lambdas, DynamoDB, S3, etc.) Web security SSO / Okta, OAuth, etc. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the Pharma/Bio domains. A track record of innovation implementations. Familiarity with high-end technology product development environments. Data science skills data processing pipelines / ETLs, SageMaker, etc. Healthcare / life sciences industry experience Lean Management, Six Sigma, or similar operational engineering tools.
