Role-Senior AWS Engineer Location: Raleigh, NC(Onsite), local candidates only Employment Type: Contract Primary Skills: AWS Aurora, MySQL, Cloud Data Migration Job Summary We are seeking a Senior Engineer with deep expertise in AWS Aurora (MySQL compatible) and on prem to cloud data migration. The role requires strong hands on technical skills across database engineering, cloud migration, performance tuning, and version controlled deployments, along with the ability to mentor team members and collaborate closely with product stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Core Engineering Responsibilities Lead and execute data migration projects from on premise environments to AWS Cloud, ensuring data integrity, performance, and minimal downtime. Design, implement, and optimize AWS Aurora (MySQL) database solutions for scalability, availability, and performance. Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing strategies, and troubleshooting in MySQL/Aurora environments. Follow and enforce architectural principles, coding standards, and best practices. Contribute to and oversee both backend services and front end interfaces as needed in a full stack environment. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across application and database layers. Version Control, Deployment & Code Quality Utilize version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines for controlled deployments. Conduct code reviews, ensure quality standards, and promote best practices across the team. Support deployment strategies and rollback plans in cloud environments. Leadership & Collaboration Mentor junior and mid level engineers and provide technical guidance. Collaborate with product owners, architects, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Participate in design discussions and contribute to technical decision making. Mandatory Skills Proven hands on experience with data migration from on premise to cloud (AWS). Strong proficiency in: AWS Aurora DB MySQL Solid understanding of: Version control and deployment practices Database performance tuning and optimization Experience working in cloud native or hybrid cloud environments.
